How can we tell if our organization has been targeted?
Because most security solutions focus on individual points of compromise, it can be difficult to tell if your organization has become the subject of a targeted attack. Targeted attacks are significantly more dangerous than casual attacks, because they persistently probe vulnerabilities across your workforce and software endpoints in an attempt to find vulnerabilities.
Although Belay can help surface evidence of targeting, there are some simple ways to ascertain yourself whether your organization has been targeted. Are new employees more likely to get phishing emails than veteran employees? Do phishing emails use the names of company executives to try to compel you to perform a given action? Do suspicious emails seem to arrive from known contacts? All of these are indicators that your organization may not simply be on the receiving end of random "drive-by" attacks, but rather may be specifically targeted by a hacker or group of hackers.
