My antivirus says my workstation may have been compromised
Many antivirus and anti-malware companies use inflamatory language to make you feel a sense of worry and urgency and thus purchase more of their products. It's not uncommon for popular antivirus companies to alert you of third-party cookies with the same level of urgency as a banking breach. Take a moment to read the message and understand the actual threat you're being warned about.
Beware also of browser popups which purport to be antivirus notifications warning you your workstation is insecure. These are invariably themselves malware, and use urgency and fraudulent branding to compel you to click on them.
